Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
We are now live with the next phase of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) which means that almost all our prescriptions are processed electronically from 7th September 2020. If you already have a nominated pharmacy you will receive your prescriptions in the same way as you do now. If you DO NOT have a nominated pharmacy please contact the Surgery to allow us to update your records with this information and enable us to process your prescription.
Read more about EPS on the NHS website.
Ordering Repeat Prescriptions
Only items on repeat will be dealt with when ordering prescriptions online.
In order to access prescriptions online you will need to call into the surgery to register for the service where you will be given a username and password. Please bring 2 forms of identification including photo ID with you.
(Click the icon at the bottom of this page to order your prescription if you have already registered for this service.)
Please note: you can ONLY order medication that is on REPEAT. If you require medication that is NOT ON REPEAT you will need to make an appointment with the Doctor.
When a Doctor has decided you should have a repeat prescription, the details will be entered onto the Practice computer. This will allow you to obtain a repeat prescription from the receptionist until the Doctor wishes to see you again.
Repeat prescription requests must be in writing.
Prescriptions can be ordered by:
- ticking next to the medicines you require on the repeat back slip (this is the other half of your prescription which you tear off) and post this into the letter box provided at reception. A post box is provided outside of the shutter at Peterlee Health Centre for patients who wish to call in early morning or over lunchtimes.
- Alternatively, you may post the request with a SAE, or fax the request to us
- Online from your home pc, smartphone, tablet etc. if you have registered access
- You can also order prescriptions via the NHS App (See below:)
Your prescription will be ready for collection in 48 hrs (please allow for weekends). This allows us time to process your repeat prescription safely. Please note that it will be 72 hours notice for any medication that is not on repeat prescription that is being requested.
For Patients who are housebound, or have mobility problems, we offer a telephone request service:
- Horden – Monday-Friday: 9.30am-12.00pm
- Peterlee – Monday-Friday: 9.30am-12.00pm
Note: All local Chemists provide a collection service for repeat prescriptions, by prior arrangement.
