Sisters Sheila, Gemma and Denise, can help with any concerns you may have regading your condition, including:
- Breathing Probelms
- Medication
- Inhaler Technique
as well as health education for children and their parents.
We invite patients with Asthma to make an annual appointment with our Practice Nurses.
A regular smear test will detect the early signs of cancer of the cervix before it becomes harmful. We recommend a test every three years for all women aged 25-49 years. We recommend a test every five years for all women aged 50-64 years. Contact reception to book an appointment with the Practice Nurse.
Clinics are held every week alternatively at Peterlee and Horden Surgery on a Thursday, please note there will be no Health Visitor there.
In order to give your child the best start in life, we offer immunisation against childhood disease, including, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Polio, Measles, Meningitis C etc. We strongly recommend that you attend for these appointments.

The Practice provides comprehensive chronic disease monitoring including the following:

- Cerebrovascular Disease monitoring

Condom Distribution Scheme
We offer a free and confidential condom distribution service to young people under the age of 25 years. Condoms are provided free and are available to both male and female young people following an appointment with a trained member of staff (usually the Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant). Information and leaflets on condom usage are also provided.
Young People and Contraceptive Services
We provide a fully confidential service to young people. All members of the practice team are bound by confidentiality rules. If you would like to discuss contraception please make an appointment to see one of the GPs or the Practice Nurse.

The Doctor now uses Teledermatology. The Doctors and Nurses do this procedure.
TeleDermatology is the ability to photograph skin lesions and send the images securely to a Consultant Dermatologist to diagnose whether further treatment is necessary or not. This, in most cases, saves patients a journey to hospital to see a Consultant Dermatologist.
Patients with diabetes are invited to the clinic annually to ensure that good health and diabetic care are maintained. However, if you have any concerns about your diabetes and your review is not due, simply make an appointment to be seen during clinic times with our Specialist Nurse.
The practice provides a comprehensive family planning service including:
- Prescribing of oral contraception (the pill)
- Giving contraception by injection (depo-provera)
This Clinic is offered by Dr Krishnan.
Once you are satisfied with the contraceptive pill, which has been prescribed to you by the Doctor, simply make an appointment with the Practice Nurse for repeats of your prescription (as the Pill cannot be ordered as other repeat medicines) and check-ups.

After you have been discharged from hospital following a serious illness, major diagnosis or major operation, we may ask one of our District Nurses to visit you to offer appropriate care, advice and support.
We can now provide warfarin monitoring in the practice. Please ask at recption for more information.
We advise that adults are protected against TETANUS.
If you are in doubt about your immunisation status, please see the Practice Nurse who will advise you.
We also offer vaccination against HEPATITIS & TYPHOID for people travelling abroad on holiday or for work.
Please book your appointment at least 2 months before you travel to ensure the vaccine has time to become effective.
An intra-articular joint injection clinic is offered to patients who suffer from arthritis and other associated complaints. Assessment by one of the Doctors must be carried out prior to referral to Dr Krishnan or Dr. Sahoo for this service.
Full ante-natal and post-natal services are available. The majority of your care will be provided by your Midwife.
A team of midwives provide your maternity care and one of the midwives that you meet during your antenatal period will deliver your baby. You will then be given full postnatal care by the team of midwives. The Practice operates a system of ‘shared care’ with the local hospital. This means that most of your antenatal care is carried out at the surgery and you will only need to visit the hospital a couple of times, provided all goes well.
Removal of lumps, bumps and moles, this service is provided by Dr Sahoo and Dr Krishnan
These are sometimes necessary for purposes such as employment or insurance. Enquiries can be made to the reception staff, if you wish to have such an examination. Please Note: A fee will be payable
Patients who currently smoke and need help and support to stop are invited to self-refer to this service. The Smoking Cessation clinic is nurse-led.
Nicotine Replacement therapy is prescribed via vouchers as an aid to support your own will power.
If you want help in stopping smoking, simply book an appointment by contacting reception during our normal working hours.
Various clinic times are available at each surgery.
Our Practice Nurses & Health Care Assistants are available to carry out treatment and tests that the Doctor may advise you to have. These include:
- Ear Syringing
- Removal of Stitches
- Dressings
- ECG’s
- Blood Tests
- Also other tests, which your Doctor may arrange.
They are also able to offer advice on any personal health problems.
Please let reception know which test you require when you book to ensure you are seen by the most appropriate person.
